(Warlok-TSH): TONIGHTS TOPIC: Arrogance and Confidence: What's the difference? Is there a certain amount of arrogance that naturally comes with confidence? Are they separate or symbiotic?
(Malus): what that woman ..she beeen doing to me
(Warlok-TSH): TONIGHTS TOPIC: Arrogance and Confidence: What's the difference? Is there a certain amount of arrogance that naturally comes with confidence? Are they separate or symbiotic?
(jesszabelle-dj): i have to confess that i find a certain amount of arrogance to be quite attractive. still, a Man has to be able to back that level of confidence up! He has to be very competent.
(Shadow): they should work together...
(jesszabelle): i agree, Master Shadow. i don't feel that arrogance is automatically a bad thing.
(Shadow): arrogance without the followup action is just that...arrogance
(Malus): if its to much its annoying though :>
(Shadow): that is not a good thing
(jesszabelle): to me, confidence is something that one has within one's self. arrogance is what one points out at the world. does that make any sense whatsoever? lol
(Shadow): back up that arrogance with action and it becomes confidence
(Malus): sure that makes good sense
(feylin): i think so, jess.
(jesszabelle): oh good, thanks.
(Shadow): not only for you and how you feel, but also how others see you
(Malus): dangle it in ppls faces and your just an overly confident jerk
* feylin grins
(Shadow): I am not sure I agree, Malus
(feylin): i am with jess in that i find a bit of arrogance sexy.
(jesszabelle): one person's overly confident jerk is another person's attractively arrogant Master.
(Warlok-TSH): thats ok though to sometimes as long as it's not overdone
(Shadow): if you can back it up is it overly confident?
(Malus): sure all things are relative jess
* aurea{W} is just quirky
* jesszabelle grins at aurea.
(Malus): matters to me how much a person might boast
(jesszabelle): boasting is a problem.
(aurea{W}): is perhaps the difference between confidence and arrogance....the ability to be open to other ideas and thoughts??
(Shadow): to me overly confident goes along with "letting One's alligator mouth override their canary ass"...so to speak
(risa{Mk}c): well can someone define it for me?
(feylin): ah, i did not include boasting in my idea of arrogance.
(Malus): thats what i meant Shadow..the boasting part
(risa{Mk}c): can someone please define arrogance for me please
(Malus): i find ppl that are to arrogant..well they tend to do that
(Malus): human nature
(Shadow): ai
(Malus): lok at me look at me
(Warlok-TSH): arrogance is knowing your good with butterflies in your tummy arrogance with confidence is knowing your good and you can back it up with confidence
(risa{Mk}c): good at ?
* aurea{W} giggles...Master has been around the children to much...tummy?!?!?
(risa{Mk}c): i mean good at everything?
(feylin): ar·ro·gance - offensive display of superiority or self-importance; overbearing pride
(Warlok-TSH): whatever it is they are arrogant about
(risa{Mk}c): thank you feylin
(Malus): arrogance can mean thinking you know things as well
(feylin): that is not my description, though...so good thing i looked it up. lol
(Shadow): ar·ro·gance /'ær?g?ns/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[ar-uh-guhns] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
(Shadow): –noun offensive display of superiority or self-importance; overbearing pride.
(jesszabelle): arrogance, in a negative way, is being WAY too confident without the abilities that back up that confidence. being cocky. being a real overbearing ass.
(Malus): offensive
(risa{Mk}c): so it sounds bad
(feylin): i like jess' definition as one being about self (confidence) and the other being more outward (arrogance).
(Malus): well there is a subtle kind thats cool
(Malus): but most go to the extremes
(Warlok-TSH): self control
(feylin): Someone who i see as arrogant (in a good sense) is someone who has high expecations of people and situations he or she finds themself in and will settle for no less than they believe they deserve
(Malus): sure thats a good way
(Shadow): ai
(feylin): and they may or may not be quiet about it
* feylin grins
(Warlok-TSH): self control will control taking it to extremes
(Malus): if you have to boast heavily maybe your not as good as you think
(Warlok-TSH): which feeds the arrogance
(risa{Mk}c): that is a good point Master Malus
(Shadow): I agree Malus
(Warlok-TSH): TONIGHTS TOPIC: Arrogance and Confidence: What's the difference? Is there a certain amount of arrogance that naturally comes with confidence? Are they separate or symbiotic?
(jesszabelle): feylin, i think you make a good point regarding an arrogant (in a good way) person's expectations of the people around Him. they're high because He has such high expectations of Himself -- and usually meets them.
(jesszabelle): when He doesn't meet them, He's usually pretty darned hard on Himself, too.
(Malus): but also to fey lin..doesnt look down on others because they dont meet those standards
* Shadow nods
(feylin): so i do think there is quite a difference between confidence and arrogance...and i think it can be noticeable visually in the way a person moves unconcerned really with how others are viewing them while being arrogant often protrays itself as the individual waiting for others to appreciate their thoughts, commands, or just presence...based on confidence, but different.
(feylin): i think the arrogant person does make a judgment, Master Malus.
(feylin): at least internally
(feylin): but, so does everyone else
(jesszabelle): true, that. perhaps an arrogant person is more open about it?
(jesszabelle): not necessarily in a good way. less tactful?
(feylin): lol absolutely true, jess.
(Malus): maybe jess
(Malus): they tend to be blunt
(Malus): :>
(feylin): not always in a tactful manner, no, which can create some tension or for someone to dismiss them before they have the entire picture
(Malus): niceeeeeee Warlok
(Malus): lol
(feylin): and i may have stretched my arrogance definition too much..some arrogance can reveal itself the same way as confidence? i mean, not really caring what anyone thinks of them
(feylin): that's not the entire definition of either, just a part of either
(Shadow): that would be someone confident in themselves and who they are
(Shadow): those who are not may see it as arrogance rather than self confidence
(feylin): true, Master Shadow.
(Malus): like most things Shadow there are many levels to anything
(Shadow): I am one of those people....I could truly give a rats ass what others think of me
(Malus): see im different
(Malus): i care what ppl think but then when it comes down to it i dont give a rats ass
(Malus): to a point
(Shadow): as a teen in high school
(Shadow): I wanted to run with the cool kids
(Malus): oh no not like that
(Shadow): image and how others saw me
(Malus): more like im not arrogant to the point of ignorance
(Shadow): but no matter what I did
(jesszabelle): [20:37] (Dra`go): I think the difference is how one displays ones actions. A confident man will move forward with a sure step, while an arrogant man would strut forward with an over-bearing attitude
(Shadow): somebody somewhere did not like me
(Shadow): so why should I care
(Malus): right shadow
(Shadow): I should be who I ma
(Malus): absolutely
(jesszabelle): [20:38] (Dra`go): I do not think they are symbiotic
(Shadow): som like me..some don't
(feylin): Master Dra`go has a very good post...i just think the strutting can be cute
(Malus): he has a good point i think
* risa{Mk}c smiles at feylin
(Shadow): *nods
(feylin): i think you are awesome, Master Shadow.
* feylin smiles
(Shadow): Dra'go has a good point
(Shadow): lol
(Shadow): ty feylin
(feylin): most welcome, Master Shadow
(Shadow): the point is why care what others think
(jesszabelle): [20:40] (Dra`go): I do not believe there is a certain amount of arrogance that "naturally" goes with confidence...as, they are to me, revealed in the "steps" a man takes
(Malus): lol
(Shadow): who makes you what you are
(Malus): Warlok
(feylin): lmao!
(Shadow): you or them?
(Malus): true Dra'go
(Warlok-TSH): TONIGHTS TOPIC: Arrogance and Confidence: What's the difference? Is there a certain amount of arrogance that naturally comes with confidence? Are they separate or symbiotic?
(Malus): although..i think there is a fine line that we all cross Dra'go lol
(jesszabelle): [20:42] (Dra`go): for example, a confident man does not desire to defend his position, as he knows his position, while an arrogant man would vehemently defend his, as he does not have the confidence to rest assurd that he believes what he knows...hope I said that correctly
(jesszabelle): [20:43] (jesszabelle): i think that arrogance can be either good or bad in degrees. certainly arrogance tends to be a perjorative term and is usually used in a negative context because it's generally an extreme characteristic. however, a small degree of arrogance --
jesszabelle): that is to say, a high degree of confidence, perhaps? -- can be very attractive, particularly to a strong woman, like a slave.
* feylin smiles at jess.
(Malus): absolutely jess
(Malus): i find that extremely attractive
(risa{Mk}c): can a slave be too arrogant or confident?
(feylin): i keep picturing John Travolta strutting down the street in leather and polyester...i may have nightmares later, but now i'm digging it.
(Malus): yes just like a Master can
(Malus): lol feylin
(jesszabelle): [20:45] (Dra`go): I concur jess, as, arrogance, can be seen, as a benift and not always as a bad trait...but the question wasn't is arrogance a bad thing *grins*
(jesszabelle): [20:46] (jesszabelle): true, Master Dra`go, but i confess i dragged it down that avenue all the same. [blushes]
(jesszabelle): [20:46] (Dra`go): an arrogant man would be quick to be followed into battle, as would a confident man
(jesszabelle): [20:47] (Dra`go): but, I personally, would want to dine with a confident man, before dinning with an arrogant man
(jesszabelle): [20:49] (Dra`go): confidence draws me forward, I desire to listen to that man, and learn, were as I find arrogance to be a turn off, and although I may learn something from him, I dont generally allow myself to stick around to long
(jesszabelle): [20:49] (jesszabelle): given just those two terms? i'd have to agree with that, Master Dra`go.
(Warlok-TSH): very much so risa and I've seen it often from slaves they come out with this I would do this or this when serving a Master yet they are no longer owned because they couldn't just realise a slave is a slave is a slave.
(risa{Mk}c): oh gosh i thought a confident man was more apt to pick up the tab
(risa{Mk}c): silly me
(Malus): love this song
(feylin): lol risa..and get better seating.
* Malus Malus-afk
(Malus): dang
*** Malus is now known as Malus-afk
(risa{Mk}c): and i have also seen very arrogant Master not understand the same Master Warlok, a Master is a Master is a Master
(jesszabelle): [20:50] (Dra`go): ...I do believe the attraction to each, would lay in the "lookers" eyes to how Pride is viewed
(jesszabelle): [20:51] (jesszabelle): how do You mean, Master Dra`go, please?
(jesszabelle): [20:52] (Dra`go): well, an arrogant man would be thinking he is full of Pride, where-as I would see a confident man as full of, not so much Pride, as Honor...and Charirty
(jesszabelle): [20:53] (Dra`go): Pride, in my estimation, is "Look at Me, see how Great I am" while, Charity, is "What can I do for that fellow"
(jesszabelle): [20:54] (Warlok): what is pride when not boasted about?
(jesszabelle): [20:54] (Dra`go): Pride is "Stand back everyone, I will do what I can for him" while Charity is done with annoniminity
(jesszabelle): [20:55] (Dra`go): Confidence will reach out and take hold of it, while arrogance will grab onto it...
(jesszabelle): [20:56] (Dra`go): again, I think the difference is percieved in ones actions...how it is done, how he is thinking of self, or others...confidence does not belittle others, where, arrogance is looking down on others, as less-than
(jesszabelle): [20:57] (Dra`go): of course, this is only my own view on it
*** Malus-afk is now known as Malus
(jesszabelle): [20:58] (Warlok): so you don't see any arrogance being a good thing?
(risa{Mk}c): welcome back Master Malus
(jesszabelle): Welcome back, Master Malus
(aurea{W}): Welcome back, Master Malus
(Malus): ty jess
(feylin): Welcome back, Master Malus.
(jesszabelle): [20:59] (Dra`go): arrogance can lose lives in battle, the same as confidence...and arrogance may win by taking an action that none other may think would win...so, no, I dont think "all" arrogance is a bad thing
(Malus): yeah a chance foolish action
(Malus): but hey like i said we all cross that line
(jesszabelle): [21:00] (Dra`go): but, like I said, I would rather dine with confidence than arrogance
(jesszabelle): TONIGHTS TOPIC: Arrogance and Confidence: What's the difference? Is there a certain amount of arrogance that naturally comes with confidence? Are they separate or symbiotic?
(Malus): ok i got lost on the jess Dra'go convo i think :>
(Malus): oh well
(Malus): im gonna get the dragon nat speaking i think tom...
(Malus): some of what i say in response to others seems like im talking to someone else :>
(nightfox151): listens
(nightfox151): i dont usually have to many nice things to say about an Arrogant person
(nightfox151): but respect a person who is confident
(Warlok-TSH): TONIGHTS TOPIC: Arrogance and Confidence: What's the difference? Is there a certain amount of arrogance that naturally comes with confidence? Are they separate or symbiotic?
(nightfox151): big difference is them
(Malus): no lol
(Malus): i mean my responses are 4 lines down from the original line
(Malus): so it looks like im talking to the person above me in the chat
* Malus grins
(nightfox151): lol
(Malus): ill remedy that lol
* feylin smiles
(jesszabelle): The man who has confidence in himself gains the confidence of others. -- Hasidic Saying
(Malus): true
(nightfox151): most arrogrant people are so rude and so far into thenselfs they cant tell the difference between their ass and a hole in the ground
(Malus): most great men are a touch arrogant i think....but the trick maybe is knowing when youve gone to the darkside :>
(Malus): lol foxy
(Malus): all things in moderation i say
(jesszabelle): while i find arrogance attractive, i also find it suspect. i'm more likely to trust in a person i find merely confident than a person i find even attractively arrogant -- until i'm sure that the arrogance is truly backed up confidence and i know that Person well.
(Malus): sure jess
* feylin feels the pull of the darkside, but fights it
* feylin grins
(Malus): lol
(nightfox151): lol
* jesszabelle grins at feylin.
(feylin): it really depends on the moment for me..i've had a blast hanging out with someone i perceived as arrogant...be in the trenches with it day in and day out? Not so much, i'm thinking.
(feylin): but i still find it attractive at times.
(feylin): confidence, on the other hand, always seems attractive to me.
(jesszabelle): well that's just it, though, feylin: if you're in the trenches with it for a while, you'll find out whether or not it's backed up superior confidence, in which case it's REALLY sexy, or just plain overbearing useless blather.
(wenchW): may i ask the topic?
(Warlok-TSH): TONIGHTS TOPIC: Arrogance and Confidence: What's the difference? Is there a certain amount of arrogance that naturally comes with confidence? Are they separate or symbiotic?
(wenchW): thank You
(aurea{W}): should a slave have any arrogance?
(Prettiful): Arrogance tends to spawn itself from low esteem, so I'd say they're very different.
(Prettiful): No, a slave shouldn't
* feylin grins
(Iskander): Now Playing: Pink Floyd - Dirty Woman
(wenchW): but a slave should/could have confidence, no?
(feylin): sometimes arrogance does have the confidence to back it up with truth in deed and word.
* jesszabelle thinks the argument for degrees has gone out the window.
(Warlok-TSH): I tend to disagree very much that a slave should have some arrogance backed up by her confidence to serve well
(Prettiful): Slaves should have all the confidence in the world. If one is confident in themself, there's no need to be arrogant
(Malus): hows that jess?
(jesszabelle): perhaps it's just a question of semantics, Master Malus.
(jesszabelle): most people see "arrogance" as perjorative.
(Warlok-TSH): arrogance is not always a bad thing
(jesszabelle): they see it as an extreme term, rather than a term of degrees.
(feylin): not for me, not always, jess.
(feylin): nuances.
(Malus): i dont see it as always bad either
(Malus): i see it exactly as degrees
(Prettiful): Then maybe we carry different ideas of what arrogance is.
(jesszabelle): oh, i think we carry the same ideas, Mistress Prettiful, i just think we carry different shadings of it in our minds.
(Warlok-TSH): I think some are looking at arrogance as being boastful when they are two differant things
(Prettiful): That may be too
(Malus): :>
(jesszabelle): to an extreme, it's an awful thing.
(jesszabelle): very distasteful.
(feylin): or funny, sometimes.
(jesszabelle): doesn't even have to be an extreme!
(Malus): right jess
(jesszabelle): but a little bit of it? yummy.
(Malus): lol
(feylin): lol
* jesszabelle laughs.
(Warlok-TSH): lol jess
(feylin): but i have seen people use extreme arrogance to be funny.
(nightfox151): i seen some people with an arrogance about them you can like but thats pretty rare
(jesszabelle): so with that in mind, i'd say that *my* answer to aurea's question is that it's okay for a slave to have a little bit of arrogance, sometimes. but she'd have to be able to keep it in check, and hard.
(Prettiful): To me when somebody is arrogant, they try to hold this constant 'better then thou' air, and they try to shove that down people's throats
(feylin): with Masters, definitely. With other slaves?
(wenchW): of its a help to the discussion....MW says an attitude of superiority manifested in an overbearing manner or in presumptuous claims or assumptions
(nightfox151): but then i seen over confidendent people too that are just about as hard to hendle as an arrogant person
(wenchW): overbearing...even the dictionary is prejorative!
(Prettiful): Confidence is being happy with oneself, and not feeling the need to 'prove' they are better all the time
(jesszabelle): oh absolutely, that's the generally accepted definition, Mistress Prettiful.
(Malus): lol foxy
(nightfox151): agree Mistress Prettiful
(Prettiful): :3
(jesszabelle): it's just that if there's just a touch of it.... well, i can't help it. i'm intrigued by super-confidence. i have to find out if it's backed up by reality.
(jesszabelle): boasting? that gives it away as arrogance.
(Prettiful): I agree
(Prettiful): Saying something in a haughty manner is something an arrogant person does. Like they think everyone else cares =p
(Prettiful): Like 'Oh, well MY car costs a billion dollars, so HA!'
(jesszabelle): [21:29] (Dra`go): Two men face each other across the octagon. Arrogance has won every fight he has entered. He Yells acoss the octagon, " I am going to kick your ass good." The crowd goes wild, they all know Arrogance is going to run across the octagon and take the fight to Confidence. Confidence stands quitely and smiles, for he knows himself.
(jesszabelle): (Dra`go) He studied all the tapes on Arrogance, he knows what Arrogance is going to do.
(Malus): lol
(Praetorian1510): good evening... only here to listen and learn....
(jesszabelle): [21:30] (Dra`go): He does the same thing all the time, rushes forward and takes the action to his opponent. Confidence smiles, he is ready...."bring it on" he says in his mind, "I am ready for you."...
(wenchW): if it isnt distasteful to you jess, perhaps it doesnt meet the definition of arrogance, in that its not overbearing...
(Praetorian1510): Pleasure to be here....
(Malus): tell Dra'go..good story lol
(Malus): ok im out
(Malus): wish you well
(wenchW): hmmm...Early in life I had to choose between honest arrogance and hypocritical humility. I chose honest arrogance and have seen no occasion to change.
(jesszabelle): [21:34] (Dra`go): the bell rings, and Arrogance rushes forward across the ring, sure he will smash Confidence to the mat. However, Confidence moves as quick as a thought and before Arrogance knows what happened, a swinging back fist has dropped him to the mat. Arrogance yells and throws himself to his feet....
(jesszabelle): TONIGHTS TOPIC: Arrogance and Confidence: What's the difference? Is there a certain amount of arrogance that naturally comes with confidence? Are they separate or symbiotic?
(jesszabelle): [21:36] (Dra`go): ..he charges at Confidence and swings a mighty fist...Confidence ducks, having studied the tapes, knowing Arrogance luvs this punch, and lands a mighty blow to Arrogance's exposed stomach...
(jesszabelle): [21:37] (Dra`go): the breath is forced out of Arrogance and as he gasps for breath, Confidence rises and kicks Arrogance in his face and drops Arrogance to his back on the mat...
(Malkcontent): My answer, arrogance and confidence are two separate things. Arrogance is an overabundance of confidence, whether the skills to back it up are there or not. having confidence can sometimes be perceived as arrogant; but this may not be the case.
(jesszabelle): [21:38] (Dra`go): Arrogance, begins to wonder if he bit off more than he could chew...Confidence awaits Arrogances next move, fully confident in his own abilites as a fighter.
(Warlok-TSH): TONIGHTS TOPIC: Arrogance and Confidence: What's the difference? Is there a certain amount of arrogance that naturally comes with confidence? Are they separate or symbiotic?
(jesszabelle): [21:40] (Dra`go): ...the crowd still roars, they dont care who wins, just so long as this battle continues to entertain them...the end.
(Prettiful): Haha, great story
(feylin): Interesting story, although i thought Confidence's stance was looking a bit arrogant a few times.
* feylin smiles
(jesszabelle): [21:41] (Dra`go): now, lets go eat dinner...who would you rather dine with??
(jesszabelle): [21:42] (jesszabelle): honestly? hrm. how about You?
(jesszabelle): [21:42] (Dra`go): we could we with Arrogance while he tries to explain why he is all beat up, or, we could eat with Confidence and enjoy a quite meal :)
(jesszabelle): [21:43] (Dra`go): we could eat*
(wenchW): "kicks Arrogance in his face and drops Arrogance to his back on the mat..." ...doesnt sound like Arrogance is in any shape for dinner!
(nightfox151): lol
(jesszabelle): [21:48] (Dra`go): A not to bright fellow steps into Arrogance's gym and asks, "will you teach me to fight?" Sure says Arrogance, jump up here into the ring and I will teach you. Afteral, I can teach a rock to piss, so, teaching you to fight will be a breeze."
(jesszabelle): [21:49] (Dra`go): the not so bright fellow jumps into the ring and Arrogance says, "ok, come at me." and not so bright does so, he approaches Arrogance. Arrogance smashes him in the face
(jesszabelle): [21:51] (Dra`go): "Now says Arrogance, do you see how I smashed you in the face, now, you try it. not so bright swings at Arrogance but Arrogances moves aside and smashes himn in the face again. "there" he says, did you see how I moved out of your way and smashed you in the face"?
(jesszabelle): [21:52] (Dra`go): this goes on for two weeks and the not so bright man leaves all beat up and goes home, learning nothing
(jesszabelle): [21:52] (Dra`go): after he heals, he goes to the gym of Confidence and asks..."can you teach me to fight?"
(feylin): lol..this sounds like that funny clip that is sometimes played "kick to the head!"
(jesszabelle): [21:52] (Dra`go): No says Confidence, I cannot."
(jesszabelle): [21:53] (Dra`go): However, I will show you what I know, and we will see if You can learn to be a fighter.
(jesszabelle): silly wench
(feylin): kick to the head
* jesszabelle stops pasting, leaving it to the able wenchling.
(jesszabelle): thanks, wench!
(jesszabelle): (sorry, Master Warlok!)
(wenchW): no problem, confidant jessabelle!
* jesszabelle snirks.
(feylin): hahahahah
(jesszabelle): <<-- arrogant bird.
(nightfox151): lol
(feylin): sexy arrogant bird
(wenchW): lol...hardly!
(feylin): i forgot which flower you were
(jesszabelle): jasmine.
(feylin): yes!
* jesszabelle nods.
(jesszabelle): delicate, sensual, smells pretty and blooms at night.
(feylin): poppy - can get you high.
(wenchW): [21:56] <wenchW> may i ask where this story is from, Master?
(wenchW): [21:56] <Dra`go> just me
(wenchW): [21:56] <wenchW> You are quite talented!
(wenchW): [21:57] <wenchW> but only if that adds to Your confidence...~giggles~
(jesszabelle): and it's vibrant!
(feylin): yes!
* aurea{W} chuckles...will stick with being a daisy..will grow anywhere and not totally displeasent to look at..kinda sturdy
(feylin): daisies are wonderful, beautiful.
(jesszabelle): daisies come in a colourful range as well, aurea, they're beauties.
(aurea{W}): lol..yeah but still weeds
(wenchW): think others, who are envious of someone may label someones confidence as arrogance when it isnt
(wenchW): perhaps it is THEY that are arrogantly untalented...lol
(jesszabelle): i've watched those who simply don't agree with a super-confident person label Him arrogant.
(wenchW): thats what i meant, jess
(jesszabelle): oh. sorry!
(wenchW): well you expanded on it...i just mentioned envy....i heard you say it could be cause they dont agree, so they use that to "shoot him down"
